Qual destes é o “Odd-One-Out”? Qual deles é diferente dos outros três? A resposta está falando . Os outros três você pode fazer sozinho, sozinho, sem mais ninguém. Você pode ouvir rádio sozinho. Você pode ler um livro sozinho. Você pode escrever uma carta sozinho. Mas você realmente não pode falar sozinho! Falar sozinho pode ser “perigoso” porque homens de jaleco branco podem vir e levar você embora !!
É por isso que você deve fazer todo o esforço possível para encontrar alguém com quem falar. Onde você pode encontrar pessoas que falam inglês com você? E como você pode praticar a fala quando está sozinho?
Na escola
Se você vai para uma escola de idiomas, deve aproveitar a oportunidade para falar com seus professores e outros alunos. Quando você for para casa, ainda poderá praticar a escuta, a leitura e a escrita, mas provavelmente não conseguirá praticar a fala. Se o seu professor lhe fizer uma pergunta, aproveite para responder. Tente dizer o máximo possível. Se seu professor lhe pedir para falar em pares ou grupos com outros alunos, tente dizer o máximo possível. Não se preocupe com seus erros. Só falar!
Clubes de conversação
Muitas cidades ao redor do mundo têm clubes de conversação onde as pessoas podem trocar um idioma por outro. Procure no jornal local um clube de conversação perto de você. Geralmente são gratuitos, embora alguns possam cobrar uma pequena taxa de entrada.
Compras
Se você está morando em um país de língua inglesa, tem uma oportunidade maravilhosa. Pratique falar com as pessoas locais, como vendedores de loja ou motoristas de táxi. Mesmo se você não quiser comprar nada, pode fazer perguntas sobre os produtos que lhe interessam em uma loja. “Quanto custa isso?” “Posso pagar em cheque?” “Qual você recomenda?” Freqüentemente, você pode iniciar uma conversa real – e não custa nada!
Pubs e Bares
Mesmo que você não more em um país de língua inglesa, geralmente há pubs americanos, britânicos, irlandeses e australianos em muitas cidades grandes. Se você encontrar um desses pubs, provavelmente encontrará muitas pessoas que falam inglês como primeira ou segunda língua.
A linguagem está ao seu redor
Onde quer que você vá, você encontra a linguagem. Nomes de lojas, nomes de ruas, anúncios, avisos em ônibus e trens … Mesmo se você não estiver em um país de língua inglesa, muitas vezes há muitas palavras em inglês que você pode ver ao andar na rua, especialmente nas grandes cidades. E sempre há números. Números de carro, números de telefone, números de casa … Como isso pode ajudá-lo? Ao caminhar pela rua, pratique a leitura das palavras e números que você vê. Diga para você mesmo. Não é exatamente uma conversa, mas vai te ajudar a “pensar” em inglês. Por exemplo, se você caminha ao longo de uma fila de carros estacionados, diga o número de cada carro rapidamente ao passar por ele. Teste-se para ver o quão rápido você consegue andar e ainda assim dizer cada número. Mas não fale muito alto!
Músicas e Vídeo
Ouça a letra de uma música em inglês de que você goste. Em seguida, repita-os para si mesmo e tente cantar com a música. Repita as palavras tantas vezes quanto possível até que se tornem automáticas. Logo você estará cantando a música inteira. Ou ouça um de seus atores favoritos no vídeo e repita uma ou duas frases de sua preferência. Faça isso até que se torne automático. É uma boa prática para a memória e para os músculos da boca de que você precisa para o inglês.
Acima de tudo, não tenha medo de falar. Você deve tentar falar, mesmo que cometa erros. Você não pode aprender sem erros. Existe um ditado que diz: “A pessoa que nunca cometeu um erro, nunca cometeu nada.” Portanto, pense em seus erros como algo positivo e útil.
Fale o máximo possível! Cometa o máximo de erros possível! Quando você sabe que cometeu um erro, sabe que fez progresso.
